Leaf season is a dreaded time of year for many. Piles and piles of leaves show up in our yards and we just have to deal with them. But what is truly the best thing to do? Is it better to chop them up or to bag them and get rid of them? He answer is yes. Each different option has its own benefits. If there is low leaf coverage across the yard, you can run your lawn mower over the leaves to mulch them. This will make them much smaller and they will break down and give nutrients to the soil. If there are piles of leaves in the yard, this isn’t a good option. While yes, you can chop the leaves, you may also get a thick coating of chopped leaves which will them smother your existing grass. This will result in bigger problems in the yard. There is a time and a place for each, the most important thing is to know when to do each and to know if there is a chance the yard will be smothered. If you think that may happen, you can also grab a rake of leaf blower and spread them out. At First Response Land we use both methods depending on the property. Another option that we provide is to save our customers the back pain from bagging. We provide Full Fall Cleanups as well as Curbside Leaf Pickups. Our goal is to help you keep your yard looking great year around! If you have more questions on leaves, reach out to us anytime!
